How to Use Foundations for Life
The study was designed to work in four settings: individual study, one-on-one discipleship or mentoring, small groups, and larger classes.
1. Individual Study
Work through the chapters in order. Give the material at least 15 minutes at a time, answer the focus questions where they appear, and look up the Scripture references as you go. After Chapter 8, complete the Final Evaluation before checking the suggested answers.
2. Discipleship or Mentoring
Meet one-on-one, preferably at least weekly. Read the chapter in advance, discuss the focus questions and Scripture passages, and complete the final evaluation separately before comparing your answers.
3. Small-Group Study
Have each participant prepare from the book before the meeting. A facilitator can use the chapter teaching presentations to guide discussion, add background material, and work through practical exercises.
4. Large-Group Study
The material can be taught to a class as well. Smaller discussion groups of four to six people help preserve participation. The original presentations were designed for roughly two-hour chapter sessions; one-hour classes may take about sixteen weeks.
